Mad Scientist Birthday Party!

So as stated before in earlier posts we had a Mad Scientist Birthday for my son’s 8th Birthday! We did all kinds of experiments and had all kinds of treats. Everything didn’t quite go as planned but what Mad Scientist does everything that is planned. By the time the party day got here I just wanted to get everything done. I’m very thankful for the people that took pictures because I didn’t have time to!

Strawberry Brownie Cupcakes!

I know this isn’t crafty or glue gun required but I just had to post this recipe I found and modified. I found it from a pin on pinterest. It took me to this blog: I(heart)2stamp¬†which took me to a recipe that she found on allrecipes. I used a box brownie and a box strawberry mix (eek..I know but I didn’t have time to gather everything up to make it from scratch and this is just a test run of these cupcakes) I followed the recipes on the boxes instead of modifying them like on allrecipes. I scooped a layer of brownie mix into the bottom of a cupcake liner then scooped a layer of strawberry cake mix on top of that. Baked them at 350* for 25 min…checked them and then baked them for another 1o min. They are so delicious! I topped them with whipped vanilla icing. I normally fill all my cupcakes with icing but I figured with the brownie on bottom and strawberry cake on top that they wouldn’t need the icing filling!

Chocolate Peppermint Candy Cane Kiss Cupcakes

No Glue Gun Required for this project!

This is a great little cupcake treat that everyone will enjoy.

Peppermint Cupcakes

Chocolate Peppermint Candy Cane Kiss Cupcakes

1 Box Chocolate Cake Mix (any kind will work)

1 Bag Hershey’s Candy Cane Kisses

Cupcake Liners

Mix all ingredients according to the instructions on the back of the cake mix box.

Line muffin tins with cupcake liners.

Scoop cake mix into the liners filling each 2/3-3/4 of the way full.

Put in the oven and bake for 5 minutes.

During this 5 minutes start unwrapping the amount of kisses you will need.

After 5 minutes of baking, slide the muffin tins out of the oven enough that you can push a kiss down into each one.

Continue baking for required time according to box.

After baking has finished take muffin tins out of the oven and let cool for 5-10 minutes.

Take Cupcakes out of tins and continue to cool before icing.

Once completely cool you can begin icing as desired.

Sprinkle with different colored sprinkles and add another Candy Cane Kiss to the top!
